Application Validation Assistant (AVA)

The Application Validation Assistant (AVA) is a standalone tool developed by HRSA OIT team to help the applicants/grantees to validate the application prior to submission and improve the application submission process. AVA automatically reviews application packages and identifies potential errors across forms and supporting data so applicants can correct issues early. AVA also delivers real-time feedback, corrective guidance, and guided troubleshooting to help applicants resolve issues quickly. It requires a human in the loop to correct errors and do the submission; and it is an optional tool.

Important Update

As of July 9, 2026 AVA can also validate the following fields on the SF-424 R&R forms. Note that you will only have the SF-424 or SF-424 R&R form with your application package.

  • UEI
  • Federal Identifier
  • Application Type
  • Funding Opportunity Number
